2011 - Domaine Drouhin-Laroze - Chambertin - Clos de Bèze - Grand Cru

Rating : 92 Points

Producer : Domaine Drouhin-Laroze

From : France, Gevrey-Chambertin, Cote de Nuits, Burgundy

Variety : Pinot Noir,

Estimated Cost : $119-$180

Drink : 2019-2040

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The oak comes through stronger than on Drouhin-Laroze's Chambertin Clos de Beze 2011 compared to Bruno Clair. The fruit is broodier and only reluctantly reveals blackberry and wild raspberry scents, touches of orange blossom later. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, thickset tannins that lend this weight and muscle. Bold and forward with touches of spice and white pepper toward the finish, this is an assertive Clos de Bèze that will require several years in bottle.

2011 - Domaine Drouhin-Laroze - Chambolle-Musigny - Village

Rating : 91 Points

Producer : Domaine Drouhin-Laroze

From : France, Chambolle-Musigny  Cote de Nuits, Burgundy

Variety : Pinot Noir

Drink : 2015-2024

The Chambolle-Musigny Village 2011 has a very pure bouquet with red cherries, wild strawberry and redcurrant notes that are neatly entwined with the oak. There is great vibrancy here. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, good acidity and superb salinity on the taut, sour cherry-infused finish. Excellent - a village cru that actually surpassed some premier cru under blind conditions !

2011 - Domaine Drouhin-Laroze  - Latricières - Chambertin  - Village

Rating : 93 Points

Producer : Domaine Drouhin-Laroze

From : France, Gevrey-Chambertin, Cote de Nuits, Burgundy

Variety : Pinot Noir

Drink : 2015-2038

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2011 from Drouhin-Laroze has an intriguing and complex bouquet : a mixture of red and black fruit, some stem-like scents; autumn woodland and undergrowth developing with aeration. The palate is medium - bodied with fleshy cranberry and strawberry fruit underpinned by fine tannins and plenty of body toward the finish. Still youthful and vibrant, I suspect this has a long and prosperous future ahead.
